I totally read this book! I remember it being horrifying but I haven't read it for years so I can't remember why. I remember the main character being really obsessed with her looks and what other people think of her and I remember being really pissed off for that reason. I think there's a cringe inducing part near the end, but I can't remember exactly...

that's the same thing that annoyed me - she's vapid, shallow, and not at all intelligent, completely self-centered and wrapped up in her looks, and yes, cringe-inducing is a good way of putting the "fashion show" at the end. wow, the humanity.
